Concept of functional dentition and impact on the quality of life of partially edentulous patients

Main Objective: To compare, through the OHIP-7Sp, impact on quality of life partially edentulous patients, according to WHO criteria “with functional dentition”, 21 or more teeth and “without less than teeth. Material Methods: 97 patients were selected between 35 75 years old, ASA I II with ≤ 28 remaining. Were divided in two groups, non-functional dentition (NFD) n=47 (FD) n=50. OHIP-7Sp survey was applied each patient measure seven dimensions considered this survey. The scale measurement ranges from 0 4, which is "never" 4 "always", a maximum value 28, considering instrument its entirety. Highest score indicates greater life. For comparison both non-parametric Mann-Whitney test used level 95% significance. Results: Concerning all evaluated mean age 53 years. There significant differences total score, median for NFD group 9.53 9 FD 5.02 5, respectively. Disaggregating analysis, emerged 2, 3, 6 (p<0.05). Conclusion: significantly life, measured compared group.
